5/17/17 Metaphorical Mysteries

High 80s and sunny.  Not my kind of weather.

Got the new Mountain Goats CD in the mail yesterday.  Brought it to work figuring I'd listen on my computer....except I just got a new one and they don't have built-in CD drives anymore.  Progress!  So now I'll just wait for it to arrive on Spotify.  Which is fine because I don't mind giving the band the (very tiny but greater than zero) extra money.  I thought that was a metaphor for something but I can't figure out what it is.

Saw a kid trying to skateboard up 6th avenue until the traffic and confusion became overwhelming and she decided to pick up her board and walk on the sidewalk.  I'm sure that's a metaphor for something but I'm not coming up with what it is.

I was trying to think of something that I saw in the last few days that may have been a metaphor for something but I couldn't come up with anything.  I bet that's a metaphor for something but I can't imagine what.

The reason I was trying to think of a third thing that was a metaphor is that three is a magical, significant number in Western Culture going all the way back to the Bible and the Holy Trinity and probably further. So at least I know what I was going for there.

This is a Sweetmeal Digestive Biscuit . It is the finest cracker I have ever eaten. I love it with either a bit of mild blue cheese (which unfortunately for me they only identify as "blue mould cheese" on the buffet) or on its own. It is delicious, and I will be harassing my nephew who is currently in the UK for the summer to bring some back for me as I don't think they're easily found in the US. What else have I been eating? Well, finally had some reindeer filet last night. Looks like beef, is tender like filet mignon but has a slightly stronger beefy flavor. Still, if I told you it was cow you'd probably believe it. The difference is subtle. It was served with a "potato cake", really scalloped and gratined potatoes formed into a square and a berry (forgot which one) sauce. Wizard Of Oz-Dark Side Of The Moon Blog For Top Chef

Concept: since Bravo repeats every episode of Top Chef a kajillion times, you can have the experience of watching the episode with me any time by following along with this blog entry. Anniversary Day

Happy anniversary to my lovely wife. I like to think I've given her four of the happiest years of her life. Of course we were married on this date in 1990 so you can do the math on that one. But seriously folks....I'm very, very lucky to have her. I hope she's having as much fun as I am.
